The Mission

One of the primary objectives of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority is to encourage scholastic achievement and quality academic pursuits. The Los Angeles Alumnae Chapter’s annual scholarship program recognizes graduating high school students from the greater Los Angeles area.

Scholarships are awarded to students who display academic excellence and/or financial need, and who choose to attend a four-year institution. On the average, The Los Angeles Alumnae Chapter awards an average of $17,500 per year, and has awarded scholarships to over 250 students over the past 20 years. Special scholarships are named in the honor of Soror Helen Ball and Soror Dorothy Fawcett and have specific requirements for recipients to receive these awards. All of the annual scholarships are presented during the Chapter's May Month celebration, which is open to the public.

Since 1992, the Los Angeles Alumnae Chapter has had the honor of having Lawry's Foods as a partner in our goal to provide scholarships for higher education, and annually, Lawry's Foods makes a scholarship contribution to the scholarship fund and a presentation at the May Month celebration.

To contribute to the Scholarship Fund, please all scholarship donation checks payable to "Minerva Foundation." These tax deductible donations will go to Scholarship through the Los Angeles Minerva Foundation.
